- 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts (pounded to even thickness)
- 1 tsp salt (for seasoning)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper (to taste)
- 2 tbsp butter (for cooking the chicken)
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (for thickening the gravy)
- 2 cups chicken broth (low sodium preferred)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (for extra flavor)
- 1/2 tsp onion powder (adds depth of flavor)
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for about 5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sprinkle in the flour and whisk for 1 minute to cook out the raw flavor.
- Gradually add chicken broth while whisking, making sure to incorporate the flour smoothly. Add garlic powder and onion powder.
- Simmer for about 5 minutes until the gravy thickens. Return the chicken to the pan and coat with gravy.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits. Enjoy!
Notes
For extra richness, stir in a tablespoon of heavy cream at the end! Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
