Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp instant yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)

For the Filling:

  • ⅔ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Make the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add the warm milk, egg, and softened butter. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  • Roll and Fill: Roll the dough into a 12×16-inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly.
  • Shape the Danish: Roll the dough tightly from the longer side into a log. Cut into 12 equal slices and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the danishes for 18–20 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
  • Glaze It Up: Whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over the warm danishes.
