Description

Classic apple crumble bars combine sweet apple filling with a buttery oat crust and topping. Easy to make and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cups peeled and diced apples
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt. Stir in melted butter until crumbly.
  3. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  4. In another bowl, toss apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cornstarch. Spread evenly over the crust.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the apples.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
