Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp meringue powder
- 2-3 tbsp water
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until dough forms.
- Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into shapes.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool cookies completely before decorating.
- For icing, mix powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water until smooth.
- Divide icing and color as desired. Pipe onto cookies.
- Let icing dry completely before serving.

- Chill dough for 30 minutes for easier handling.
