A comforting and easy-to-make homestyle chicken and dumplings recipe that’s perfect for a cozy meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1/2 cup diced onion


Instructions

  1. In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add carrots, celery, and onion. Cook until softened.
  3. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
  4. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Stir in milk to form a dough.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the simmering broth.
  7. Add shredded chicken and thyme.
  8. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes until dumplings are cooked.
  9. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Use leftover rotisserie chicken for convenience.
  • Adjust broth thickness by adding more or less flour.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
