A delicious and easy-to-make French toast casserole that you prepare the night before and bake in the morning.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf French bread, cut into cubes
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Place bread cubes in the dish.
- Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl.
- Pour mixture over bread cubes, pressing down to soak.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Mix brown sugar and melted butter, then drizzle over the casserole.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and set.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use stale bread for better texture.
- You can add nuts or fruit before baking.
- Serve with maple syrup or powdered sugar.
