A moist and spiced gingerbread loaf cake perfect for the holidays or any time you crave warm flavors.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a loaf pan.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves in a bowl.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and molasses.
- Alternate adding dry ingredients and hot water to the wet mix.
- Pour batter into the pan and bake for 45-50 minutes.
- Cool before slicing.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg.
- Serve with whipped cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
