Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp white vinegar


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake pan with liners.
  2. Whisk flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a bowl.
  3. Mix oil, egg, buttermilk, food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar in another bowl.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
  5. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 full. Bake for 18-20 minutes.
  6. Cool completely before frosting.
