Description
A rich and creamy mac and cheese dish with three types of cheese and a crispy breadcrumb topping.
Ingredients
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tbsp melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook until thickened.
- Add cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheeses. Stir until melted.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni.
- Transfer to a baking dish.
- Mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the mac and cheese.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Notes
- Use freshly grated cheese for better melting.
- Adjust salt to taste.
- Add a pinch of cayenne for a spicy kick.
