Chicken and Gravy Ingredients

  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts pounded to even thickness
  • 1 tsp salt for seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter for cooking the chicken
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour for thickening the gravy
  • 2 cups chicken broth low sodium preferred
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder for extra flavor
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder adds depth of flavor

Instructions

  • Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  • Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for about 5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, sprinkle in the flour and whisk for 1 minute to cook out the raw flavor.
  • Gradually add chicken broth while whisking, making sure to incorporate the flour smoothly. Add garlic powder and onion powder.
  • Simmer for about 5 minutes until the gravy thickens. Return the chicken to the pan and coat with gravy.
  • Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits. Enjoy!
