  • 1 lb ground beef browned and drained
  • 4 cups potatoes thinly sliced
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup for creamy texture
  • 1/2 cup milk to thin out the sauce
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 tsp garlic powder for extra flavor
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish, followed by half of the ground beef and half of the chopped onion.
  • Pour half of the soup mixture over the layers. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, beef, and soup mixture.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking. You can also swap ground beef for ground turkey for a leaner option.
