Description
A plant-based alternative to pulled pork using jackfruit. It mimics the texture and flavor of traditional pulled pork.
Ingredients
- 2 cans young green jackfruit in water or brine (drained)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion (diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until softened.
- Add drained jackfruit to the skillet. Break it apart with a fork.
- Stir in barbecue sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve warm on buns or as desired.
Notes
- Use young green jackfruit for the best texture.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
